Cameroon U-23 Could Miss Out of AFCON

Cameroon's under 23 team will not be playing in the next AFCON in that category unless an appeal to the Court For Arbitration in Sport (CAS) is succesful.

The Cameroon FA (FECAFOOT) announced it will be lodging an appeal against the Confederation of African Football’s recent decision, requalifying Gabon at the expense of Cameroon.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) appeals Committee over turned a decision of the body's  Disciplinary Commission that had disqualified Gabon for fielding an overaged player in their two legged qualifiers against Cameroon in May.

The Gabonese Football Federation – FEGAFOOT had announced it will be appealing against the CAF Disciplinary Commission's decision, suspending the participation of the Cameroon U23 side on May 17, 2023.

CAF Disciplinary commission suspended Gabon in favour of Cameroon and went further to suspend the Gabonese for the next edition of the U23 AFCON.
The U23 AFCON will be played in Morocco from June 24th to July 8, 2023. Gabon won the first edition hosted by Morocco.
