Elite one: YOSA Stays as Eding suffers first Relegation in 7-years

Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda has beaten Eding Sports of the Lekie 2-0, to stay afloat in the Elite one championship. This was during the Relegation playoff game played on Friday at the Bonamoussadi stadium in Douala.

 

  Franck Eric Embe and Akoh Calistus came off the bench to score for YOSA, who overpowered Eding Sport, to secure their maintenance in the top flight.  

 

Eding Sports dominated the first segment of the game, but the two best chances of the half came when Harrison Ford Djonkep's effort was saved by goalkeeper Bessong Chrysantus.  

 

On the other end, James Bienvenu Djaoyang did well to push away Njongmu Rudolf's shot.

 

Carl Frank Zanga and David Theophane Ngondo all of Eding, were shown yellow for bookable offenses committed on Rudolf.  

 

Coach Bonaventure Djonkep brought in Prospert Onana in the place of Carl Frank Zanga before the start of the second segment.  

 

On his part, Ndikum Blaise of YOSA made two match changing substitutions, When he brought in Franck Eric Embe and Akoh Calistus to replace Njongmu Rudolf and Chem Herbert respectively.   It took Embe just 13 minutes on the pitch to made the difference, when he slotted on a fine pass from Akoh Calistus.  

 

As Eding Sport searched for an equalizer, it was rather YOSA who increased taller in the second minute of added time, when Akoh completed a beautiful move from Eric Embe.

 

  A 2-0 score line advantage YOSA which settle the game, as YOSA stays afloat in the Elite one championship, while Eding Sports is relegated to the inferior league.

  1.  Eding Sports' seven-years stay in the top flight is now over. The team gained promotion in the Elite one in 2016, but will now compete in the Elite two championship next season.

 

 As for YOSA, the team has spent 13 years in the top flight, and have survived yet another Topsy Turvy campaign.
