It was a bitter pill to swallow for the fans and supporters of Yosa and the entire Northwest football public when the yellow Submarine of Bamenda went down by 1-0 against Les Astres of Douala this afternoon.
Yosa came into the match needing only a draw to beat the relegation entanglement but failed in their final hurdle of the season. The result means they end the regular phase of the championship on 24 points after 22 matches played and in the 9th position on the log, not good enough to avoid the relegation playoff against the opposite number from pool A.
Here are the complete results of the final day of play in pool B of the MTN Elite One championship.
Les Astres 1-0 Yosa
Yafoot 1-0 Dragon FC
AS Fortuna 1 – 0 Bamboutos

While awaiting the official classification after the homologation of the league results, the current unofficial classification shows that Gazelle FC of Garoua (35 points) and Bamboutos of Mbouda (34 pts) have qualified for the championship playoof phase while Yafoot FC of Yaoundé (22 pts) and Dragon FC (10 pts) are automatically relegated into the MTN Elite Two championship .
Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda, classified 9th on 24 points will need to go through a playoff against the teams that ends 9th in pool A. The winner of the match retains the right to play in a reduced elite one championship next season while the losers join the bottom two placed teams from both pools to descend.
On Sunday April 30th, it will be the turn of PWD of Bamenda who are currently classied 8th in Pool A on 22 points to carry the hopes and aspiration of the Northwest region.
