Elite Two: North West clubs Pull Disappointing Home Draws

Foncha Street and Bafut Rangers could only pick up a point each from their homes matches this Wednesday March 15, 2023. Foncha Street FC of Bamenda forced Racing club of Bafoussam  to a goalless draw while Rangers FC of Bafut settled on a one all tie against Unisport of Haut Nkam at the Bambili University Stadium in matches counting for  day 18 in the MTN Elite Two championship.

 

In the first of the two encounters, that pitted Foncha Street against Racing, the first interesting moment came in the 14 minute of play when Foncha Street FC launched a counter forcing goalkeeper Lionel Trésor Ndjomo to make a save.

 

Seven minutes later, the West based side found their feet, when they dismantled the defense line of Foncha street FC, Unfortunately for them, the first assistant referee’s flagged offside. The first half ended zero goal on either sides with little or no interesting moves.

 

Upon return for the second segment, things became a little difficult for Foncha Street as the visiting side mounted pressure, striking and heading from all directions but goalkeeper Lloris Tenda kept his goalpost safe. Despite several scoring chances created by both sides, the goals were far fetched.

 

Five minutes to the end of regular time, both sides went for the knockout punch, trading successive chances to kill the game. But this was not to be as goalkeepers Lloris Tenda and Lionel Trésor stood firm protecting their goal posts and making sure they kept a clean sheet each.

 

The second game of the day turned out to produce more fireworks from the first minute of play. Barely 10 minutes of play, visiting site Unisport sport netted the first goal confusing the play style of Rangers FC though it became a revival call for them.

 

As things went on Ndeh Nsoh Fabrice AKA Fabregas leveled scores for Rangers FC. As the tides were rising Rangers FC won a penalty unfortunately lead elite two goal scorer Katche Boris was unable to put his side ahead. The tussle and bustle ended in a one all tie.

 

Foncha Street FC is now ranked seventh on the classification table with 23 points while Rangers FC is Sixth with 24 points, one place better than Foncha Street.

 

Foncha Street will face fourth placed Unisport on Saturday Match 18, 2023 at the Bonamoussadi Stadium in Douala at 2:00pm while Rangers FC will  measure weight with Eighth place Aigle du Moungo at the Reunification Annex Stadium in Douala Sunday 19 March 2023 3:30 pm.
