CHAN 2023: Groups, Nations Taking Part, Details

When the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship CHAN 2023 goes underway come January 13 to February 4, 2023 in Algeria, 18 nations on the African continent will be battling for the ultimate prize in football reserved for local players.

Algeria will host this competition in four cities Algiers, Constantine, Oran and Annaba. Host country Algeria will face 2014 winners Libya in a North African derby on 13 January 2023 at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT) at the majestic Stade de Baraki in the Algerian capital Algiers. 

QUALIFIED TEAMS 

Algeria (host country), Morocco (winners in 2018, 2020), Libya (winners in 2014), Senegal (fourth place in 2009), Mali (runners up in 2016, 2020), Mauritania (3rd appearance), Côte d'Ivoire (third place in 2016), Niger (4th appearance), Ghana (runners up in 2009, 2014), Cameroon (fourth place in 2020), Congo (4th appearance), DR Congo (winners in 2009, 2016),  Uganda (6th appearance), Sudan (third place in 2011, 2018), Ethiopia (3rd appearance),  Mozambique (2nd appearance), Angola (runners up in 2011), Madagascar (1st appearance).

The 18 qualified teams gave been grouped into five groups. Group A,B,C have four teams each while groups D and E have just three teams each.
